Oolong tea - does it help loose weight?

Well first of all let me explain what Oolong tea is in fact.
"A direct translation for Black Dragon, Oolong Tea's meaning is both mystifying and tempting. No other category of teas includes such a wide range of shapes, colours and aromas.

Ok, now we know what Oolong tea is, but how can we know that it really works for loosing weight. Well, in terms of the science, a recent study found that Oolong tea does have many health benefits including cancer prevention and weight loss. the catch is that you have to brew 1 - 2 tablespoons of loose leaves in 1 cup of water for five minutes. this makes for a very strong cup of tea.

There is no harm in drinking it. Just make sure its not those "slimming tea" that may have added additives to it - may have side effects and to me it is not a natural tea.

I have found http://www.goldenteahouse.com and http://www.yishanteashop.com and bought some good quality Chinese tea. I hope soon tictalktea will open their online tea shop.

teainchina on "Chinese Tea Culture"

Chinese tea has always been well-known around the world. Chinese people have been making great contribution to improve people's life.Based on this, tea culture comes out.According to the history of "Shennong (the Chinese god of medicine) ate 72 poisons plants a day, consequently he was poisoned. Occasionally he tasted some leaves and he felt better and turned to normal." The leaves are tea!!

Tea planting and production and drinking tea have had a long history of five thousand years in China.

The elegant tea culture has added much more charm to Chinese long history civilization. Chinese tea, elegant and fragrant, is a fabulous carrier of both material and spiritual civilization. The richful tea culture influenced society, human culture, philosophy, history, literature, art, medicine, health care, craftwork and other fields. It suits all people’s tastes whether they are high-class or poverty people. In the history of China, tea was highly appreciated by the aristocracy, court officials, intellectuals and the ordinary people. People from different provinces, different classes and various nationalities interweave each other into the colorful Chinese tea culture.

Chinese tea culture is the marvelous combination of social science and natural science on tea, has been made up to the holy spirit of truth, kindness and beauty throughout its evolution course.

There is a Chinese poem, THE TEA, that writing “Clean and filth-free,/Is for clear away wordy annoyance./It is a miraculous soul,/Coming out from mountains."

The naturalness and trueness of tea are assimilating to "purity and simplicity" and "returning to trueness and simplicity" of human nature. And then people develop the thought of serving and entertaining guests with tea, making friends with tea, showing respect, geniality, politeness, though simple but elegant interpersonal relationship with tea. Above all, from the nature of tea and tea-involved affairs, people put aesthetic feeling, psychic satisfaction, and cultivation of values and the real gusto of life together and then comprehend.

The famous poem, A POEM ON TEA fully depicts the magic nature of tea: "The first cup helps to moist the throat and the second breaks loneliness. But one cannot find an appropriate word to express his or her feeling after drinking the third cup. The fourth cup induces a little perspiration, which makes drinker forget all the dissatisfaction. The fifth cup helps to clean up human body. The sixth makes the soul sense immortality. So one has better not drink the seventh cup, otherwise he or she will feel coolness in the armpits, and feel like to fly."

In the information era, people experiencing a rapid-paced life in changeable and complicated situation are in bad need of relaxing, adjusting and spiritual advancing. Tea that is highly being praised as "drink of the soul", is a special nurture for our minds. The tea culture will be helpful and useful for people to "explore the natural property of tea, to discover the advantage of tea and to understand the aesthetics of tea."

If tea is kept in an air tight container under no or low light it will last a long time. Temp and type of tea also play a huge factor.

If you mainly drink tea which comes in tea bags keeping it in "ziplock" bags with the air squeazed out, in a dry, dark, cool place will keep it fresh for months if not much longer.

If you like loose leaf tea which is of greater quallity and you care deepely about preserving the tast ask the vender about each type of tea.

The best type of tea for waking up is black tea. It is the polar opposite of green tea which in this case means that it trades in its health benefits for high caffeine. One of the stronger black teas in both flavor and caffeine is Earl Gray. With its potent mixture of intence oils and caffeine this English tea is a great choice for waking or working. P.S. this tea is strong and for days when getting up is not of paramount importance there are other black teas which wake you up a little less abruptly. Also I find loose leaf tea to be of better guality and taste with the added benefit of being able to be bought by weight.

Hello all, I'm new to the forums and to tea in general, but people here seem knowledgeable and experienced, so I figured I may as well join up and learn about tea.

So far, I have read about a lot of teas that help you lose weight, go to sleep, and whatnot. However, I am more interested in a tea that would help me wake up (yes, I'm an insomniac and as such am constantly tired, how annoying).

I've tried Irish and English breakfast teas that my friend's father suggested, but they don't really wake me up. Since you guys seem to know a lot about tea, what do you think is the best for waking up? Do you think tea with a lot of caffeine or tea with a strong, invigorating flavor/aroma would be best?

That sounds good. I will have to give that a try.

Is it safe to assume that you are also using milk and a sweetener? Do you make the tea in water and add milk, or make it in milk?

There are some good masala tea brands from India. However try adding crushed ginger and cardamom when making tea. It gives a yummy flavour.

In our center, we are crazy about helping people attain the holistic health and natural healing by using Chinese tea, acupuncture, Taiji & Qigong, foot massage and more. So we have created a series of the health tea products based on the classic Chinese tea used successfully throughout China for centuries just for you. In order to produce the best series, we put a lot of efforts to make sure our tea not only tastes special, but also effective and safe.

Your health and well-being are everything to us, so we use the best organic or wild crafted tea whenever possible in order to insure the quality of the ingredients. We are always seeking for the best Chinese natural tea and have them benefit all the people around the world. We always believe that the efficacy is everything for a special product for people's health.

Have you ever wonder why some people look so young at their age, but some don't. Well here in our center, we'd like to share our secrets with you. The secrets of natural therapy will greatly improve your health !

For centuries, Chinese elders observed the body, believing it to mirror the cosmos in minia-
ture.Ancient sages compared the elements contained in nature with the main organs of the body and paired tthem to demonstrate their interdependence and mutual reinforcement and restraint. This model of balance that defines the opposing, yet complementary sides of
nature is widely known as yin and yang.

Early Chinese sages meticulously documented how tea and its combination interceded to stimulate or calm, heat or cool specific organs in the body, restoring them to homeostasis and , thereby, producing optimum health. From this observation, the Universal Harmony Theory was postulated as a method to balance the yin and yang when combining tea.

According to this theory, when elements are in balance, life is harmonic and flourishes.

When the balance of polar forces is upset, disease looms.

Dragonwell or Long Jing is probably the most popular tea in China and perhaps the world...it is also a fav of mine. A lot will depend on the quality and source of your Dragonwell and whether it was stored properly before you even received it. But even lower grades can brew a good cup. Perhaps your brew methods are off...that will ruin even the finest dragonwell.

We went to the Food Show and had a blast. We found lots of great products and ideas that we plan to encorporate into a cafe sometime in the near future. We brought several bags of goodies and literature (which we are still digging through). Will post back later with how some of those goodies taste.

Hi Everyone,
I've been importing teas for a few years now and have been selling it to restaurants, spas and hotels. I have recently gotten a website up for my teas. You can find me at www.grandteastand.com. Please visit the site and let me know what you think. Your feedback is very important to me since tea lovers are my main target for growing my business. Most of my existing clients start off with a flavored black tea, then they move on to my more exotic selections. I hope some of you will do the same. My goal is to provide you with the best tea purchasing experience you have ever had. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email me at:

Hello

Welcome!

I agree natural is better. I love all teas and herbals. My favorite is white tea and chamomile. Right now I'm taking horsetail pill for my veins in my legs. For some reason they have been hurting a lot and I have been getting lots of nasty looking veins on them. Since I took the horsetail they have been doing lots better. I heard that drinking it as a tea is good too. I'm going to try and see if I can find it fresh.
